More than seven decades ago the visionary, Smt Kamalini Sarabhai founded BM Institute of Mental Health with a view to providing mental health education and rehabilitation services backed by emerging research to people with special needs. That was the AD 1971 and appreciation of the fact that some people had special needs was not widespread. That was then. Staying true to the commitment of the founding members and a relentless pursuit of their vision by Team BMIMH has helped the institute to emerge as a place of repute. Today, the institute provides mental health education and rehabilitation services to thousands of individuals and families every year, thereby bringing about a qualitative change in their lives. The enabling environment of BMIMH, its work culture and commitment to society have won the trust of the myriad. It is the vision, mission and team work that have made the journey fulfilling so far. But we also realise that we have miles to go. And Team BMIMH shall travel the distance.
